Northern Germany
GDI concentrates on Northern Germany. That is where the power from the offshore wind farms comes ashore, where the transmission nodes are located at which new large loads can be connected, and where contiguous land is available at power plant and industrial sites. In Lower Saxony, 60 percent of Germany's offshore wind connection comes ashore; TenneT's grid connection map shows five substations in the north-west of the state with possible new connections for large loads.
